(April 16, 2018) Lexington, Neb. – Dawson Public Power District has awarded a total of $3,000 in scholarships to two high school seniors.
Zachary Beckenhauer of Cozad was awarded the Dawson PPD Utility Line Scholarship. Evan Palmer of Kearney was selected to receive the Dawson PPD STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Scholarship. Each scholarship is valued at $1,500.
“Dawson PPD is proud to support our local youth,” said Dawson PPD Communications Specialist Chelsea Gengenbach. “It is important to support these students as they pursue their dreams because they are our future workforce and may bring economic development opportunities to Nebraska.”
Beckenhauer plans to study utility line at Northeast Community College in Norfolk after graduation from Cozad High School. He has worked for the City of Cozad’s electric utility department in the past. Beckenhauer is the son of William and Jill Beckenhauer.
Palmer is a senior at Amherst High School. He plans to study electrical engineering at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln this fall. Palmer is the son of Noel and LeAnn Palmer.
