There were 26 ag related incidents that caused damage to Dawson PPD lines and equipment in 2021. The cost of the damage ranged from $289 to $4,645. The cost for these incidents was billed to the people and farms involved.

“Damages to power lines and equipment is more than just the dollars it costs to make the repairs,” explains Dean Kunkee, Safety Director. “We can’t always put a dollar amount on how the loss of electricity affects neighboring customers who get their electricity from the same lines and equipment. They may have lost product or time causing added stress – which we may not be able to measure with dollars. Plus, the inconvenience of not having heating, cooling, lights, and entertainment.”

If you are involved in an accident, stay in the vehicle or equipment and call for assistance. Do not attempt to exit if the equipment or vehicle is in contact with electrical equipment.
