(October 30, 2018) Dawson Public Power District has closed its Kearney and North Platte office locations in response to decreased customer traffic. The Kearney location will continue to be a line maintenance center.  The maintenance and construction personnel stationed at the North Platte location will stay as well. A customer service position has been eliminated at both locations.
“The decision was made after specifically studying 12 months of transactions processed at each location,” explains Gwen Kautz, Dawson PPD General Manager.  “The number of in-person payments has significantly decreased over the past couple of years as we’ve offered other convenient options to our customers. It is important that Dawson PPD evaluate all aspects of our business so that we operate efficiently and effectively on behalf of our customers.”
Dawson PPD customers can pay by phone, use online account services, set up recurring bank or credit card payments, use MoneyGram services or mail a check for their electric bills.  The Lexington headquarters office remains open to process payments, provide customer service, and dispatch service personnel.
Drop boxes at the Kearney office, behind the Kearney municipal building, at the Kearney Family Fresh Market and at the North Platte office will be closed on Friday, November 2.  Customers may continue to call the Kearney or North Platte phone numbers and will be automatically transferred to Lexington.
Dawson PPD serves over 23,000 meters in a territory that includes Dawson and Buffalo Counties as well as portions of Gosper, Lincoln, Frontier and Sherman Counties.  The district is headquartered in Lexington, with service centers in North Platte, Gothenburg, Sumner, Kearney and Ravenna.
