In just under two hours, Dawson PPD employees distributed 425 gallons of hand sanitizer to businesses and organizations in Dawson and Gosper Counties.
The District partnered with Renewable Fuels Nebraska, the University of Nebraska and the Renewable Fuels Board of Directors. The partnering organizations selected the counties based on need.
“Dawson Public Power knew first hand how difficult it is for businesses to acquire the necessary sanitizing options for employees,” said General Manager Gwen Kautz. “When Renewable Fuels Nebraska called and offered us hand sanitizer to distribute to local businesses, we jumped at the chance to help our communities. Dawson PPD employees volunteered to help with the distribution and the response from businesses was greater than we anticipated. We would like to thank Renewable Fuels Nebraska and the University of Nebraska for this opportunity. Thank you to the Dawson County Sheriff’s office, too, for monitoring traffic.”
Cars lined the main parking lot of Dawson PPD’s headquarters in a neat line set by orange traffic cones. Drivers were instructed to keep their windows up and to simply pop the trunk. There, Dawson PPD employee volunteers placed one gallon of hand sanitizer in the vehicle while wearing a face mask and gloves for protection.
