Building a new structure for your home or business takes a lot of planning. As you are working through your budget, please be sure to contact Dawson PPD for a quote on the cost to bring electrical power to your location.

Dawson PPD’s policy, implemented in February 2021, states that the full cost to bring electrical power to the customer must be paid in full before service is extended. The Dawson PPD Board of Directors approved this policy to ensure that no rate class subsidizes another.

The cost to extend service to a new location varies.

“It’s a case-by-case situation,” said Staking Engineer Gary Haines. “It depends on what equipment and facilities already exist in the area. We encourage homeowners or business owners to contact us as they are budgeting for new construction so there are no surprises.”

Quotes are valid for 30 days. Once the agreement is signed and the cost to extend service is paid in full, Dawson PPD will install electrical service. Typically, Dawson PPD’s turnaround time for construction is 30-45 days after the initial phone call from the customer.

  4. Once payment is received and an agreement is signed by the customer, Dawson PPD will assign the job to one of its construction crews.
  5. The new service is installed. Typical turnaround is 30-45 days.
