Starting in January 2024, Dawson PPD will charge to increase the size of an existing electric service. The value of the retired equipment will be credited toward the cost of new equipment.
Increasing the size of a motor on an irrigation service, adding a swing arm to a pivot, or adding another bin to a grain site are reasons that the capacity of the electric service may need to be evaluated.
The board approved updates to the Extension of Electric Facilities, which includes the upgrade policy, at their October meeting. The change of policy means that ratepayers are not subsidizing the projects of other customers. It was also made due to the rising cost of line equipment. The policy can be found at DawsonPower.com > Customer > Policies. The policy change information was included as a bill stuffer in the 2023 irrigation energy billing.
