Dawson Public Power District has awarded Luryn Hendrickson a $1,500 STEM scholarship to further her education. Hendrickson is a senior at Shelton Public Schools.
In her essay, Hendrickson said that she plans to study architecture at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She plans to eventually return to the tri-city area and join an architecture firm.
“It is my goal to create better flowing layouts for grain elevators and co-ops, helping them become more efficient,” Hendrickson wrote.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. The scholarship is awarded to one student annually.
“Dawson PPD understands that rural Nebraska needs a population of skilled employees to keep the area vibrant,” said Communications Specialist Chelsea Gengenbach. “The scholarship aims to support these students who will be tomorrow’s leaders.”
